Sudden cardiac arrest is a catastrophic event that occurs to over 40,000 Canadians a year; up to 700 of these are actually children or youth. Of the people who arrest in public places, less than 25% receive bystander CPR.

For our youth, who are so often these days bombarded with negative media about their role in society, this provides a concrete example of positive leadership that will hopefully empower them to lead if confronted with a similar situation be it on the volleyball court, at a concert or at home.

Knowing what to do in the event of a cardiac arrest is empowering.
